Harbour Genealogy
27 July 2006 - 1:20:47am The following is taken from page 1 of "The Harbours in America" by Louis J. Williams. The Earliest Known Harbour Dates "The earliest date we have on a Harbour is a statement by a descendant in which he said that the first Harbour to move to England was Sir Geoffrey Harbour, a Norman knight, who fought with William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Since there is no documentation of this, to our knowledge we will leave it to further research." Little has changed up to our current year of 2006. If you have the opportunity to read the "Harbours in America" you will find a treasure of knowledge concerning our surname as well as other surnames that have touched our history. You will not find much has changed since the book was published in 1982. We are still seeking the origins of Thomas Harbour, where was he was born, where did he lived in the continental U.S. prior to arriving in Virginia, who are his parents, and who were his siblings. Somewhere, stuck between the pages of historical documentation, Thomas Harbour awaits us to find him.
